StarTimes FUFA Big League side Bukedea Town Council Football Club has confirmed the appointment of Peter Onen as their new head coach.
Onen succeeds Ssekitto Anthony having signed a short term deal that will run until the end of the season with an option of contract extension once the club gains promotion to the top league.
The new development follows the departure of Ssekitto last week on Friday due to a string of poor results.
The club has dropped four points in their last two consecutive games forcing 1-1 reminiscent draws with Dove All-Stars and Paidha Black Angels.
He will work alongside the Lazarous Ariong as his assistant.
Ariong took over the coaching responsibility as an interim coach for just four days before appointing Onen.
The 45-year-old CAF ‘A’ licensed gaffer joins the club with vast experience having handled a number of clubs at different levels.
Onen coached Gulu United, BUL FC and the Uganda Hippos (U17) national football team that he guided to 2019 African Cup of Nations U17 Championship in Tanzania.
Onen parted ways with BUL FC following their ejection by Mvara Boys FC from the Uganda Cup on the round of 64 with a penalty shooting 4-2 win after a one all draw in the normal time.
He has been tasked to secure Promotion for Bukedea Town Council FC into the StarTimes Uganda Premier League which will earn him huge bonuses as enshrined in his contract.
Bukedea Town Council is fourth on the Elgon Group of the StarTimes FUFA Big League table standings with 14 points from 11 matches played thus far, 7 points behind the table leaders Myda FC.
Onen will quickly embark on his first session at the Emokori playground as he prepares his squad for their next Thursday’s away trip to Akii-Bua Stadium to face Saviour’s Football Club.
